Chiropractic and Immune Function

Chiropractic Care can boost our Immune System

Doctors of Chiropractic mainly focus on the self-healing ability of the body. We understand the role of alignment and functional movement of the spine and body with overall health and well-being.  When one's spine is out of alignment, there is abnormal vertebral movement, known as a Subluxation(s).  Chiropractors are trained in locating and correcting these abnormal vertebrae dysfunctions through proper chiropractic care.  Chiropractic practitioners remove these Subluxations from the spine relieving irritation and pressure on the nerves, restoring mobility of the joints and bringing the body back into balance improving movement, posture and function.  To remain sound and healthy, it is tremendously important that our nervous system function properly and optimally without any disturbances caused by Subluxations.

Chiropractic Care and Our Immune System

Our immune system is essential for defending our body against disease and foreign invaders. Therefore, our immune system must be funtionally optimal for healthy living. If a human being's vertebrae are not properly aligned and are putting pressure on the nerves within or outside of the spinal column then quite possible it can cause the inability of the nerves to communicate properly with the brain. In this way, the nerves deliver faulted and broken signals to the brain and if nerve signals are not properly received by the brain, the brain in return sends wrong messages related to the body's functions.  This lack of complete and proper messages from the brain to the body and vice versa can create a vulnerable whole body system prone to injury and sub-optimal health.

Various studies showed that chiropractic care has a boosting effect on the immune system of a human being.
Journel Dynamic Chiropractic (2011) through deep analysis of the literature suggested that a nervous system is an essential unit of the immune system and its response. So, the disturbances occurring within the nervous system also have bad effects on the working of the immune system of the body. The overall study of literature found the positive effect of the chiropractic care on B and T-lymphocyte, plasma, levels of antibodies and beta-endorphin. All these plays an important role in the proper function of the immune system in saving the human body from any possible disease and attack of bacteria and viruses.

An article from the journal Chiropractic &Osteopathy (2010) reported through the results of its one study that there is a drastic increase in the level of the immunoglobulin G and immunoglobulin M after chiropractic adjustment. This study also gave evidence of the positive relationship between the chiropractic care and the strengthening of the immune system of the human being.

Another study was conducted to check the effects of chiropractic care and resulted in improvement in an immune system. The researchers analyzed the blood samples of the participants both before and after the chiropractic adjustment and they found a significant increase level of immunoglobulin G within blood samples which are collected after the chiropractic care. This also suggested that our immune system will enhance its performance after getting proper movement of the vertebrae within the spinal column (Slosberg, 2011)

Medical science through many studies showed that if the vertebral column is in proper alignment and all vertebrae have regular movement within the spinal column then nerves transmit proper signals and messages to the brain and in response, the brain will give correct commands for correct body functioning. The proper functioning of the immune system within the body also depends on the nervous system.

Chiropractic Adjustments and Self-care

It is our goal to promote self-empowerment and self-care to our patients during these challenging and stressful times. Chiropractic care and adjustment have countless benefits. It will help in strengthening the nervous system and the body's immune system. People must join chiropractic adjustment or care centers or consult some good chiropractors by themselves. Now, there is a time of self-awareness for bringing health and wellness in our life. During the time of any pandemic, we have to take care of ourselves and our love ones with the chiropractic care for ourselves and also for our family.
